GLOBAL TRENDS IN DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION
Leadership Studio | Podcast | July 1, 2025

The rise of FinTech companies and solutions over the past couple of years has led to a dynamic and transformed financial services landscape. Changing consumer expectations, cutthroat competition, increasing regulatory complexity, the pressure to streamline operations, and other factors are driving the push for reinvention and innovation, ushering in a new era of digitally enabled systems to quickly and seamlessly integrate with new platforms and applications. Amidst digital turbulence, transformation is the key to survive, sustain, and be future-ready. The digital transformation journey can be challenging for companies. While some organisations have digital transformation strategies at the forefront, others will need considerable foresight and planning.

To discuss how digital technologies are revolutionising the world, making it imperative for organisations to embrace change, evolve and transform, we have invited Mr Kalidas Ghose, Vice Chairman & CEO at Vietnam Prosperity Bank Finance Company, Ltd. Q. How Analytics Transforms Every Business Decision?

Ans: On the analytic side, I discussed it already – how it is helping us on all aspects of our business, right from selecting the customer, making the offer, and making the right credit decision. Deciding on how to manage that customer – when to call him, when to offer him an upsell, etc. And then how to manage our activities in order to manage cost optimisation.

Q. The Paradigm Shift: From Product to Consumer Experience?

Ans: It is said that now it is no longer the product but the customer experience which consumers are looking for. I mean what we’ve seen with Amazon and Clip India. It is more about the experience. What is the emerging F in consumer preferences and the financial sector? What is it? I think the trend in consumer finance in the financial sector from consumers is no different from how consumers are probably behaving in the rest of the other aspects of their lives.

Q. Open Banking: The Future of Seamless Ecosystem Integration?

Ans: So even without an API manager for us to integrate directly with our partners, whether it’s a telco or a service provider like face recognition or AIP door for transferring documents to data for decisions, that process is like an open banking platform now where people can offer services or we can offer our services in turn to partners like an e-commerce site right at the point of purchase.

Q. Our Cloud Transformation Became a Publicised Success Story?

Ans: We have used all cloud providers, and the transformation of our stack from on-premises to cloud is actually considered a study for cloud adoptions that has been publicised by one of the key cloud providers as a success story.

Q. Why is Vietnam the New Manufacturing Powerhouse in Asia?

Ans: Vietnam was always a China +1 strategy, and the +1 and manufacturing have been big. I mean. Mobile phone factories. Very large mobile phone factories have existed here. You, Electronic Manufacturing, Chip Manufacturing and Stufflight, one of the big chip manufacturers in the world, set up a very large facility over here.

Q. Revolutionising Telesales Data-Driven Strategies?

Ans: An example is, for example, we used to do telesales for offering upsells of loads. Earlier, we used to generate one list, distribute it on an equal load balancing basis to, like, a group of nearly 3,400 operatives, and then just call the customer with one offer. Now we identified 18 livers in that process, right from the customer to select to the offer to make to which telecolour at what time the script that they would follow, she would follow.

Q. Careers of Tomorrow: Online AI & Machine Learning Courses?

Ans: We at Amity are also a large organisation where we are present in four countries. We We had started something called Careers of Tomorrow, which is an online platform for machine learning, for ARTICL intelligence and so many professionals, and they have joined, and we have experts from all over the world – very good experts, which we have – and we run so many courses on that, and it’s becoming very, very popular.

Q. Do Cloud Platforms Unlock Limitless Business Opportunities?

Ans: So the possibilities then become artless because now you are on the same platform as everybody else in your ecosystem. So yes. I think you rightly pointed out those four elements are very critical, of course, people’s skills and the people. Part of it.

Q. Vietnam’s Retail Banking Boom: A Young Population Drives Growth?

Ans: Retail banking is growing fairly fast. It’s a large population, nearly 100 million people, and a very young population. So every year I think one and a half or one and a half million or some number about to join the workforce. So retail banking is going fairly fast.

Q. Why Are Skilled People the 5th Element of Digital Success?

Ans: So yes. I think you rightly pointed out those four elements are very critical, of course, people’s skills and the people. Part of it. I would say, is the 5th element there where we have tried to attract people with the right degree, the right skills and the right degree of experience to help us in this journey?
