Understanding Others

Understanding others is more than just sensing other people's feelings and emotions. It also means taking a genuine interest in them as person, their strengths, their fears, and their concerns. Daniel Goleman, author of "Emotional Intelligence" stated understanding others as the first step towards developing empathy.

Research states that when team members are understood well, they perform well. Evidence shows that strong relationships boost job satisfaction and performance, improve job retention, and increase creativity at workplace. Understanding others help build trusting relationships, create effective networks, and gain people's support in times of need.
